Job Responsibilities

Under immediate supervision, for a period of six months up to a maximum of 24 months, participates in the agency-sponsored Information Technology (IT) training program as member of a team providing a full range of information technology services for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of Enterprise Applications and Architecture (EAA) support systems.  Receives formal and on-the-job training and experience in information technology concepts and methods. 

 

For a period of six months up to a maximum of 24 months, participates in the agency-sponsored Information Technology (IT) training program as member of a team providing a full range of information technology services for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of Enterprise Applications and Architecture (EAA) support systems.  Receives formal and on-the-job training and experience in information technology concepts and methods. Receives formal classroom and on-the-job training pertaining to development, maintenance and/or enhancements to application software that supports administrative and operations functions of the Department or the agencies it supports; translating agency operational needs into the applications program instructions and logic to produce the desired actions or products, the fact-finding and the analysis phases of the program development design cycle, and the analysis of specifications, designing logic, writing code, and testing, debugging and documenting applications programs.

  • Works in a team environment to assist with the analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, documentation and maintenance of EAA support systems; helps ensure the software solutions comply with security business needs, security considerations, performance requirements and established standards.
  • With guidance, prepares testing specifications and develops tests data for all modified programs; tests and debugs all modified programs ensuring all logic paths are tested and pre-determined results are verified according to established methods and procedures.  Assists lead analyst in the preparation and maintenance of written documentation for assigned tasks; in the configuration, testing, installation, documentation and by maintaining system documentation and user instructions, including revisions and corrections for both the on-line and batch environment.
  • Works on assignments using various software tools including IBM and Microsoft development tools.

  • Attends formal training classes approved by the division and section management to expand knowledge of information technology concepts. Travels in performance of duties.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Requirements

Requires completion of four years of college, preferably in computer science or a related field, or completion of two years of technical school in computer science or a related field, or active enrollment in college with satisfactory completion of 24 semester hours in computer science. Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.

 

Requires elementary knowledge of Information Technology concepts and the theories and functions of computer systems, including the design and control of information.  Requires the ability to learn how to research, evaluate and test software and/or hardware applications. Requires ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.  Requires the ability to effectively participate in and profit from on-the-job training and to effectively apply knowledge acquired to assigned work activities.  Requires the ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with associates, vendors, and others. Requires the ability to analyze data logically.  Requires good oral and written communication skills.
