Job Responsibilities

Under immediate supervision, for a period of six months and up to 24 months, participates in the agency-sponsored Information Technology (IT) training program as member of a team providing a full range of information technology services for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of web site and web application support systems. Receives formal instruction and on-the-job training in IT concepts and gains knowledge necessary to participate in projects and activities. Receives formal classroom and on-the-job training pertaining to the development and maintenance of web sites and web applications. Works in a team environment to assist with application development, documentation, and maintenance of applications. Receives formal classroom and on-the-job training necessary to perform maintenance of the user directories. Receives training in fact-finding and analysis to resolve problems relating to user procedures/training and software/hardware malfunctions within the selected computing environment. Continues education by attending training sessions and travels when held off-site.

Receives formal classroom and on-the-job training necessary to perform website analysis and gather business specifications by collaborating with staff and customers from different areas of the department and/or other agencies for the development and maintenance of web sites and web applications.

  • Receives formal classroom and on-the-job training pertaining to the development and maintenance of web sites and web applications, including design, coding, graphics creation, populating web pages with content, converting documents, testing and promoting to production, as well as installation, maintenance and support of HTML pages, spreadsheets, hyperlinks and security procedures.
  • Receives formal classroom and on-the-job training necessary to perform installation, maintenance and support of the web and internet products and monitor completion of file transfers, backups, data encryption, digital certificates/signatures, packet filtering, and application-level filtering, and necessary follow-up.
  • Works in a team environment to assist with application development, documentation and maintenance of applications; assists staff in the review of configurations to ensure compliance of agency security considerations, performance requirements, and established standards.
  • Receives formal classroom and on-the-job training necessary to perform maintenance of the user directories by adding/deleting/modifying user IDs for Active Directory and file permission systems and assist in backup procedures for various applications.
  • Receives training in fact-finding and analysis to resolve problems relating to user procedures/training and software/hardware malfunctions within the selected computing environment; serves on-call to obtain instruction and assistance in the more complicated issues.
  • Continues education by attending training sessions to gain knowledge and maintain an awareness of IT products, vendors and current procedures; travels when held off-site.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires completion of four years college, preferably in computer science or related field, or completion of two years technical school in computer science or related field, or active enrollment in college with satisfactory completion of 24 semester hours in computer science. Requires elementary knowledge of Information Technology concepts and the theories and functions of computer systems, including the design and control of information. Requires ability to follow complex oral and written instructions. Requires ability to analyze data logically. Requires ability to learn how to research, evaluate and test software and/or hardware applications. Requires good oral and written communication skills. Requires ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with associates, vendors and others. Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel. Requires ability to utilize agency supplied materials/equipment (e.g., cell phone, laptop, etc.).
