Job Responsibilities

Under immediate supervision, participates in an agency-sponsored Information Technology (IT) training program for a period of six to twelve months, but up to a maximum of 24 months in Personal Information Management (PIM) for the purpose of supporting the Enterprise email network; gains knowledge of the support and maintenance of systems through formal and on-the-job training and experience in information technology concepts and methods. Lifts and carries equipment weighing up to 30 pounds. Works overtime to assist with the completion of projects and travels to offsite locations.

  • Receives on the job training in email administration to perform account provisioning in accordance with established standards and procedures using tools designated by the agency. Lifts and carries equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Participates in providing Tier II support for end user issues in accordance with established operational standards; completes PIM related help desk tickets and Service Requests according to established timelines and procedures; escalates problem reports to the supervisor or appropriate staff to ensure resolution.
  • Receives training by working on projects with higher level staff using various hardware/software systems which may include Active Directory, eDirectory, Microsoft Desktop OS and applications including Outlook, and/or Exchange Client, ListServer and Rightfax server administration. Works overtime to assist with the completion of projects and travels to offsite locations.
  • Receives formal training classes provided by the Department's Training Center and including private vendors as approved by the Division and management; travels when held offsite.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires completion of four years of college, preferably in computer science or a related field, or completion of two years of technical school in computer science or a related field, or active enrollment in college with satisfactory completion of 24 semester hours in computer science. Requires elementary knowledge of Information Technology concepts and the theories and functions of computer systems, including the design and control of information. Requires oral and written communication skills. Requires a valid driver's license and the the ability to travel state-wide. Requires the ability to work overtime. Requires ability to lift equipment up to 30 lbs. Prefers experience with Microsoft Active Directory Users and Computers.
Specialized Skills: Requires elementary knowledge of Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems. 

 

This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.

 

Requires the ability to successfully complete a nationwide background check, which includes fingerprints and photograph, as defined by the Internal Revenue Service Pub 1075.
