Job Responsibilities

Under immediate supervision, as a member of a team, assists in performing a range of application services of limited complexity for the enhancement and maintenance of system applications for the Electronic Commerce Unit. Prepares programs and writes SQL; prepares test data and confers with user area to test changes.  Receives instructions in understanding and applying modern systems methodology and standard operating procedures in performing the structured phases of a system lifecycle. Continues education by attending meetings, training, seminars, etc.

  • Assists higher level staff performing a range of application services of limited complexity associated with the Electronic Commerce Unit, by providing input and documentation as to the development and support of the Electronic Commerce unit application system; prepares programs and writes SQL in conjunction with the system support; works closely with user area in coding and testing of programs; prepares system documentation; codes programs; reviews code; prepares test data and performs unit test; confers with other Application Services staff in the review of detailed test results; prepares program documentation; monitors operation of system and documents required enhancements.
  • Performs applications programming support of limited complexity for the systems associated with the Electronic Commerce Unit; writes SQL for UDB databases or SQL Server; writes programs using fourth generation languages such as .Net.
  • Receives instructions in understanding and applying modern systems methodology and standard operating procedures in performing the structured phases of a system lifecycle.
  • Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and maintain current Application Services products.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to two years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields; or satisfactory completion of an agency sponsored training program. Requires good oral and written communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with associates, vendors, and others. Requires the ability to analyze data logically. Requires elementary knowledge of Information Technology concepts and principles, the theories and functions of computer systems, and the principles and techniques of Information Technology documentation.
Specialized Skills: Requires education/experience as outlined above in the following: Object Oriented application design theory, concepts, and principles, and Object Oriented languages such as .NET; Cobol, Office Suite tool such as Microsoft Office; data communications such as FTP and HTTPS, data encryption such as PKI, ZIP files, JAVA, eXtensible Markup Language (XML).

 

This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.


Requires the ability to successfully complete a nationwide background check, which includes fingerprints and photograph, as defined by IRS Pub 1075.
