Job Responsibilities

Under immediate supervision, performs limited maintenance and/or enhancements to existing programs or development of new programs of increasing difficulty; serves as member of a team providing information technology services for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of Enterprise Application Services support systems. Performs modifications to existing program code. Assists in fact-finding and analysis to resolve problems relating to user procedures/training and software malfunctions. Works with experienced systems analyst in preparing testing specifications and developing test data for all modified programs. Performs testing and debugging. Prepares and maintains written documentation. Travels to and attends meetings, training, seminars, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields; or satisfactory completion of an agency sponsored training program. Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program shall have the stated requirements of this classification waived by successful completion of specific proficiency tests and training programs. Requires elementary knowledge of Information Technology concepts and principles, the theories and functions of computer systems, and the principles and techniques of Information Technology documentation. Requires ability to analyze data logically. Requires working knowledge of oral and written communication skills. Requires ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with others. A working knowledge and experience in the following is preferred: IBM MVS/ESA host operating system, COBOL programming using standard structured programming techniques, EasyTrieve Plus, relational databases, Job Control Language and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred. An elementary knowledge of Graphics User Interface (GUI) and Web application design tools, Object Oriented languages/application design theory, concepts, and principles, and hyper-text mark-up languages. Requires a valid driver's license and the ability to travel.
