Job Responsibilities

Under immediate supervision, performs limited assignments in providing information technology services; assists in the development, enhancement, maintenance and support of web sites along with web and web application development software.  Performs modifications to existing programs.  Assists in fact-finding and problem resolution.  Prepares and maintains written documentation.  Travels to attend meetings, trainings, seminars, etc.

  • Performs limited assignments in providing information technology services; assists in the development, enhancement, maintenance and support of web sites along with web and web application development
    software. Performs modifications to existing program code by following written specifications, written narrative and/or verbal direction and by using the accepted software tools used in the programming environment using object oriented languages and diagnostic testing of various software components. Works on various projects using various web development software. Performs testing and debugging of modified programs ensuring all logic paths are tested and pre-determined results are verified. Utilizes/implements the following in performance of duties: System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes: programming capabilities, database application development, HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS, SharePoint Administration and Development, SQL, SQL Reporting Service, MS Office Suite, MS Project and MS Visio, Visual Studio, ASP .Net Framework.
  • Works with experienced analysts in performing development, maintenance and support of existing web sites and web development software, including design, coding, graphics creation, populating web pages with content, converting documents, testing and promoting to production, as well as installation, maintenance and support of webpages, spreadsheets, and hyperlinks.
  • Continues on-the-job training and formal training classes provided by Central Management Services Training Center and including other private vendors as approved by division management to expand knowledge of information technology concepts. Travels to attend meetings, training, seminars, etc.
  • Assists in fact-finding and analysis to resolve problems relating to user procedures/training and software -malfunctions. Gains knowledge to research, evaluate and test software applications to support recommendations; isolates software problems and reports problems to higher level developers. Implements required fixes to correct problems defined during problem resolution.
  • Prepares and maintains written documentation for assigned tasks. Assists in the configuration, testing, installation, documentation. and by maintaining system documentation and user instructions. including revisions and corrections.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years college with coursework in computer science or related field, or satisfactory completion of an agency sponsored training program.  Requires working knowledge of oral and written communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with associates, vendors and others.  Requires the ability to analyze data logically.  Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel.  Require the ability to utilize agency supplied materials/equipment (i.e., pager, cell phone, blackberry, etc.). Requires elementary knowledge of and preferred experience in the following: System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes; programming capabilities, database application development, HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS, SharePoint Administration and Development, SQL, SQL Reporting Service, MS Office Suite, MS Project and MS Visio, Visual Studio, ASP .Net Framework. Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program shall have the stated requirements of this classification waived by successful completion of specific proficiency tests and training programs.

 

This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.
