Job Responsibilities

Under immediate supervision, assists in supporting personal computer systems for the section; serves as a specialist in assisting in the testing, configuring, and implementation of agency personal computer installations; lifts equipment weighing up to 30 pounds; assists in software distribution at user provided facilities using software installation scripts, procedures and programs; assists end-users on-site and remotely with problem diagnosis and repair on a statewide basis; updates designated service management systems and documentation. Serves on an on-call basis for software and hardware problems. Travels in the performance of duties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields; or satisfactory completion of an agency sponsored training program. Requires elementary knowledge of Information Technology concepts and principles, the theories and functions of computer systems, and the principles and techniques of Informational Technology documentation. Requires elementary knowledge of personal computing hardware and software, languages, and procedures to provide assigned technical and analytical services. Requires working knowledge of oral and written communication skills to present technical information to others with clarity and precision. Requires ability to lift equipment up to 30 lbs. Requires a valid driver's license and the ability to travel statewide. Requires the ability to serve on an on-call basis. Requires the ability to utilize equipment/materials (i.e. mobile phone, laptop, tablet, etc.).

Specialized Skills: Requires elementary knowledge of the following: supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows and Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office client software products, Automated Software Deployment tools such as Microsoft Windows/Microsoft Installer scripts (MSI), System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Lite-Touch, network communication concepts and principles including knowledge of client network configurations, routing protocols, Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Internet and computer programming and/or scripting.

 

Requires the ability to successfully complete a nationwide background check, which includes fingerprints and photograph, as defined by IRS Pub 1075.
