Job Responsibilities

Under immediate supervision, assists in providing professional support and assistance to end users of multiple State of Illinois agencies, boards, and commissions; performs work of entry level of difficulty by participating with senior analyst in the configuration of personal computing devices, applying images and loading customer specific applications and software. Assists with transfers of equipment from DolT warehouse to staging operations area for imaging; lifts equipment weighing up to 30 pounds; operates a 2-wheel hand truck, flat-bed dolly, pallet jack, and motorized pallet jack. Monitors deployment schedule for Impending device imaging demand. Assists and/or participates with senior technicians in multi-device/personal computer installations or relocations. Under direction of supervisor attends demonstrations, meetings, training sessions, seminars and conferences to continue education; travels to various locations In the performance of duties.

  • Assists in providing professional support and assistance to end users of multiple State of Illinois agencies, boards, and commissions by participating with senior analyst in the configuration of personal computing devices utilizing Microsoft Windows and Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office Automation products, network communication concepts and principles Including knowledge of client network configurations, routing protocols, Virtual Private Network and Internet and computer programming and/or scripting; assists with applying images and loading customer specific applications and software to personal computer equipment in accordance wtth prescribed procedures and content utilizing Automated Software Deployment tools such as Microsoft Windows/Microsoft Installer scripts, System Cenler Configuration Manager, and Microsoft Deployment Tool Kit; performs quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with enterprise security standards, performance requirements and content designations; notifies immediate supervisor and EUC Personal Computer Operations teams of discrepancies. Travels to various locations in the performance of duties.
  • Assists with transfers of equipment from Doll warehouse to staging operations area for imaging; validates equipment received against Remedy on Demand documents; documents receipt of equipment in designated site logs; notifies immediate supervisor and EUC Service Management of discrepancies. Pulls and sorts equipment in accordance with customer order priorities; lifts equipment weighing up to 30 pounds; electronically scans selected pc equipment, creates equipment pick list; transfers equipment from bulk storage area to imaging area and attaches equipment tracking form.
  • Monitors EUC deployment schedule for impending device imaging demand; accesses designated SharePoint site to view pc equipment delivery, outbound transport and deployment dates; updates/maintains staging operations schedule on the deployment schedule to reflect imaging priority/sequence for customer orders.
  • Assists and/or participates with senior technicians in multi-device/personal computer installations or relocations; conducts on-site desktop/laptop installations and assists experienced systems analysts in software distribution at user provided facilities using application software installation scripts, procedures and programs; updates designated service management systems and documentation.
  • Under direction of supervisor attends demonstrations, meetings, training sessions, seminars and conferences to continue education, increase familiarity with and maintain current knowledge of Information Technology products, vendor software/hardware, techniques and procedures applicable to unit activities; travels when held offsite.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields; or satisfactory completion of an agency sponsored training program. Requires elementary knowledge of Information Technology concepts and principles, the theories and functions of computer systems, and the principles and techniques of Informational Technology documentation. Requires elementary knowledge of personal computing hardware and software, languages, and procedures to provide assigned technical and analytical services. Requires working knowledge of oral and written communication skills to present technical information to others with clarity and precision. Requires ability to lift equipment up to 30 lbs. Requires the ability to operate a 2-wheel hand truck, flat-bed dolly, pallet jack, and motorized pallet jack. Requires a valid driver's license and the ability to travel statewide. Requires ability to carry and operate a mobile communication device (i.e. cell telephone, tablet).
Specialized Skills: Requires knowledge in the following: supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows and Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office Automation products, Automated Software Deployment tools such as Microsoft Windows/Microsoft Installer scripts, System Center Configuration Manager, Microsoft Deployment Tool Kit, network communication concepts and principles including knowledge of client network configurations, routing protocols, Virtual Private Network and Internet and computer programming and/or scripting.

 

This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.
