Job Responsibilities

Under immediate supervision, serves as call center contact at the IT Service Desk (ITSD). Performs basic incident/request management of technology services and equipment.  Takes initial customer request via telephone, email or other electronic means.  Enters incidents/requests in reporting system and collects detailed information.   Provides status updates to customer and Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) management.  Performs basic troubleshooting of incidents.  Performs tasking and assigning of service requests. Uses diagnostic tools to isolate user problems, gathers documentation of information for root cause analysis, and coordinates support. Maintains documentation and coordinates resolution on service requests and incidents.  Assists with development of methods and procedures.  Attends meetings and participates training programs associated with the ITSD products, services, and processes; travels when held offsite.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college with coursework in computer science or a related field such as Management Information Systems, Data Processing, or Telecommunications, or satisfactory completion of agency sponsored training program.  Requires elementary knowledge of IT concepts and principles.  Requires elementary knowledge of hardware and software, languages, terminology and procedures. Requires good oral and written communication skills.  Requires ability to maintain positive attitude and assist customers in high stress situations.  Requires ability to gain and maintain satisfactory working relationship with customers, employees and management.  Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA certifications are preferred. Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel.
Specialized Skills:  Requires elementary knowledge of MS Office software suite, remote desktop management, network administrative account management and setup, anti-virus software, enterprise standard desktop operating systems, desktop emulations, and IT monitoring tools; technical customer support and/or a ticketing system for entering, assigning, and monitoring incidents and provisioning requests.


Requires the ability to successfully complete a nationwide background check, which includes fingerprints and photograph, as defined by the Internal Revenue Service Pub 1075.

Work Hours:  8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday

Although work is currently being performed remotely due to COVID-19, remote work status is subject to change.  Individuals selected for these positions may eventually be required to report to the physical work location, noted above, upon adequate notification.
