Job Responsibilities

THIS IS A DoIT DESIGNATED POSITION.

Under general supervision, provides Tier 2 triage and technical support to Illinois State Police (ISP) and other law enforcement agencies.  Receives, evaluates, documents and ensures resolution of reported problems and issues.  Monitors system performance and initial assessment of system or network problems and starts initial communications.  Participates in regression testing and readiness for production and implementation.  Assist with distribution and installation of the Traffic and Criminal Software (TRACS) an Mobile Architecture for Communications Handling (MACH) systems to ISP users and other law enforcement agencies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to two years of college with course work in computer science or directly related field supplemented by one year of related information technology experience.  Requires working knowledge of information technology concepts and principles, the theories and functions of computer systems, and the principles and techniques of information technology documentation.  Requires the ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgement in defining and evaluation problems of an operational or procedure nature.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS:  Requires working knowledge of server and network concepts, web services concepts and technology. NET. and SQL Server.

Employment Conditions

Requires the ability to be in rotation for 24 hour call-outs on system problems.
