THIS IS A DoIT DESIGNATED POSITION

Job Responsibilities

Under general direction, performs specialized application administration of all midddleware systems and applications. Functions as lead application administrator responsible for support of complex, interrelated systems that automate technical operations within the agency. This includes code migration and source control; baseline application installation, testing and implementation; installs and test middleware server and application updates; serves as lead technical resource and provides end-user support; coordination and adherence to change management policies and process, coordinates database installation and maintence with SQL, DBA, and disaster recovery planning and testing. 

 

30%  1.  Functions as lead application administrator responsible for support of complex, interrelated system.

  • Administers all components and environments including application server installations and configuartions, intial data base set up and integration with Active Directory.
  • Mantains and ensures all application environments are synchoronized.
  • Maintains application administraiton documentation and procedures.
  • Monitors all application servces and environments.
  • Reviews processes and error logs to ensure correct and efficient processing.  

20%  2.  Prepares, installs, and administers application updates, emergency changes, code migrations and source control.

  • Configures forms, features and application settings for testing.
  • Keeps development environments up to date for all developers.
  • Maintains release level documentation.
  • Acts as technical liaison with vendor and infrastructure teams for system hardware and software issues, maintanence and problem resolution.

10%  3.  Evaluates, installs, and test middleware server and application updates to all environments.

  • Ensures compliance with security standards and policies.

10%  4.  Serves as lead technical resource providing guidance and training to ISS level support personnel.

  • Also provides direct end-user support for middleware applications and systems.

5%  5.  Coordinates all changes to all environments.

  • Adheres to change management policies and processes.

5%  6.  Coordinates data base installation and maintenance with SQL DBA. 

  • Adheres to srtandards and best practices,

5%  7.  Executes disaster recovery plans and tests.

  • Coordinates with SQL DBA to ensure data is tested and recoverable.

5%  8.  Continues education in the information technolgoy field and receivese advanced training in systems development.

  • Represents the project team by attending meetings, conferences, or seminars. 

5%  9.  Works outside normal scheduled work hours when necessary, including day, night, weekend, and/or holidays to guarantee operational staus of the applications.

  • Serves in rotation for call outs on system problems.
  • Monitors applications, answers questions and responds to emergency requests when problems arise. 

5%  10.   Other duties as assigned or required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four years of college with course work in computer science or directly realted fields.
  • Extensive knowledge of information technolgoy concepts and principles, the theories and functions of computer systems, and the principles and techniques of Information Technolgoy doucmentation.
  • Sound troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze data logically.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS:

  • Working knowledge of Windows Server, IIS, Active Directory, SQL Server, Windows OS and XML
  • Working knowledge of server and network concepts, web services concepts and tehcnolgoy, .NET, and SQL Server.
