Position Overview
Under administrative direction of the Data Analytics Supervisor, as a Database Engineer II, develops, tests, and implements the more technically complex data warehouse structures, data collections, reports, visualizations, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages, and systems for the Data Analytics Team, as well as other related systems. Performs advanced analysis, evaluation, problem solving, maintenance, testing, and implementation of trouble tickets and engineering service requests as assigned. Prepares and maintains technical documentation in support of data warehouse structures and usage and analysis functions. Attends advanced continuing data processing training covering new technologies, new techniques, enterprise standards, and best practices from internal department staff, enterprise state data practice, and external training classes and seminars. Travels in performance of duties.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops, tests, and implements the more technically complex data warehouse structures, data collections, data modeling, reports, visualizations, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages, and systems for the Data Analytics Team.
- Prepares and maintains technical documentation in support of data warehouse structures and usage and analysis functions.
- Performs advanced analysis, evaluation, problem solving, maintenance, testing, and implementation of trouble tickets and engineering service requests.
- Attends advanced continuing data processing training covering new technologies, new techniques, enterprise standards, and best practices from internal department staff, enterprise state data practice, and external training classes and seminars.
- Attends meetings and creates meeting notes and status reports.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four years of college, with coursework in computer science or directly related fields;
2. Requires three years experience working as a software developer or database administrator in a data warehouse or related development area; preferred one or more years of professional experience with the design, development and implementation of data warehouse structures, collections, and cubes; preferred experience with Crystal Reports, IBM DB2, Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
Specialized Skills: Of the previously noted experience, requires 3 years of professional experience working with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or above, ETL using Microsoft SQL Server Integration and Analysis Services, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) building and report subscription creation; and a minimum of 1 year of experience with Power BI, Tableau or other data visualization software
