Job Responsibilities
THIS IS A DoIT DESIGNATIED POSITION. Under administrative direction, performs and evaluates Data Base Management Systems (DBMS)/4GL software installation and maintenance, database design, database maintenance, database security and administration of all relational databases developed under the installed database management systems, including application and system level. Serves on-call to check operational status, answer questions and resolve problems for users, other technical staff and the help desk personnel. Develops and maintains backup, restart, recovery, performance, and reorganization procedures and ensures procedures are followed. Conducts complex in-depth studies and provides technical assistance to management on the installation, testing, and evaluation of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) software technologies, RDBMSs include but are not limited to DB2, DB2 for Windows, Oracle and SQL Server. Travels to off-site locations to attend meetings, training and conferences.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four years of college with coursework in computer science or directly related fields, supplemented by three years of professional experience in a related Information Technology field, preferably in security administration. Requires developed oral and written communication skills. Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel.
Specialized Skills: Requires professional experience with RDBMS DB2, DB2 for Windows, Oracle, SQL Server, enterprise SQL Environment and preparing disaster recovery plans. Requires working knowledge of c#.net and VB.NET.
