Position Overview
Under administrative direction, performs highly complex professional and advisory functions for all Database Administration Systems. Serves as project/team leader providing guidance to lower level professional staff performing advanced technical research, analysis, design, programming and debugging. Performs in-depth management studies involving extensive technical research and system analysis. Serves as a systems analyst for AIX operating systems; maintains scheduled jobs including backups. Reviews and analyzes system requirements, feasibility studies, joint application design sessions, development of written recommendations and prepares presentations on issues for management. Consults with users and staff regarding system modifications. Conducts analyses of data and processes supporting departmental activities and programs. Utilizes Linux Operating Systems to perform extensive maintenance of large and complex department-developed software.
Job Responsibilities
1. Serves as Database Administrator and project/team lead.
2. Performs in-depth management studies involving extensive technical research and system analysis that are of a major scope and impact.
3. Serves as a systems analyst for AIX operating systems; maintains scheduled jobs including backups.
4. Reviews and analyzes system requirements, feasibility studies, joint application design sessions, development of written recommendations and prepares presentations on issues for management.
5. Consults with users and staff regarding system modifications.
6. Conducts analyses of data and processes supporting departmental activities and programs.
7. Utilizes Linux Operating Systems to perform extensive maintenance of large and complex department-developed software.
8. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated as above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
- Requires five years of professional experience in a related Information Technology field.
Specialized Skills: Of the five years of professional experience, requires five years of experience as outlined above with the following: designing, developing and maintaining highly complex, relational database applications; IBM DB2, AIX Operating Systems, Crontab using VI and IBM Data Replication Center Software, SQL Server and Structured Query Language tuning.
