Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented
individual to serve as Internal Investigations Manager/Staff Attorney in the Office of Inspector General. Under administrative direction, this position will direct and manage investigations, initiating methods and techniques to be used.
The position will monitor investigations to ensure the preservation of evidence for possible criminal prosecution and to
ensure that staff analyze evidence to determine whether criminal prosecution, disciplinary, or licensure action is warranted. The position will also conduct and supervise Child Welfare Employee Licensure investigations. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who has a strong commitment to investigating allegations of misconduct and working to provide resolution of such cases. Job Responsibilities

  1. Serves as Internal Investigations Manager/Staff Attorney
  2. Conducts and supervises Child Welfare Employee Licensure (CWEL) investigations
  3. Serves as full line supervisor
  4. Conducts legal research as needed for OIG investigations and Error Reduction
    Trainings
  5. Prepares cases for potential criminal prosecution
  6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of
    the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires completion of law school and possession of a license to practice law in Illinois
  2. Requires three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the practice of law

Preferred Qualifications (In Order Of Significance)

  1. Five years of professional experience conducting or managing internal investigations of a sensitive and
    confidential nature in a public or business organization
  2. Seven years of professional experience conducting or managing investigations in a public or business organization
  3. Five years of professional experience in child welfare with a public or business organization
  4. Five years of professional experience writing investigative reports for a public or business organization
  5. Three years of experience supervising professional staff in a public or business organization

Conditions of Employment
