Position Overview
Under general supervision, performs journeyman duties in the DHS Wet/Press Unit. Operates and maintains a variety of peripheral reproduction equipment, I-Jet envelope press, Mamaki large format, engraving machine, AB Dick 9800 and Ryobi 1 & 2 color presses, W & D 410 & 320BE envelope machines, as well as all bindery equipment. Receives incoming supplies; maintains a safe and orderly work area.
Essential Functions
- Serves as Journeyman.
- Assists in coordinating activities for the Wet/Press Unit; assigns jobs to lower level Technicians and ensures timely completion; directs lower level Technicians regarding project needs and equipment to be used.
- Reviews print and production requests to ensure quality output and finished products.
- Performs setup, operation and maintenance of large multi-tower web-fed presses in the production of forms, manuals, pamphlets, posters, bulletins, booklets and other printed materials.
- Maintains a safe and orderly work area, ensuring it is clean and organized on a daily basis.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of high school.
- Requires three (3) years of experience in the operation of offset presses, and peripheral equipment, such as is typically gained by Reproduction Service Technicians II.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience utilizing skill and dexterity in the operation of mechanical web-fed press equipment for a public or private organization.
- Two (2) years of experience utilizing skill and dexterity in the operation of mechanical complex peripheral equipment for a public or private organization.
- Two (2) years of experience working with mechanical printing equipment operation principles and safety procedures.
- Two (2) years of experience following oral and written instructions.
- Two (2) years of experience working with mathematics for a public or private organization.
- Two (2) years of experience developing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
