Position Overview:
The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Child Support Services is seeking to hire a highly qualified and motivated professional to join our CARU Unit 1/Lawsuit Liens in the role of Child Support Specialist II. This position serves as lead worker to lower-level Child Support Specialists; reviews and reconciles the more complex child support case records, interprets and reviews support orders, both judicial and administrative, for case review and entry into the system, resolves customer service issues through direct customer contact or with other state agencies, legal partners, etc., by phone, written correspondence, e-mail, and face-to-face office visits. Additionally, this position serves as an expert witness in court and at administrative hearings as well as assists with planning and implementing judicial, administrative, and legislative policies relating to child support services in Illinois.
The ideal candidate will have excellent mathematical, communication, organizational, and analytical skills to be successful in performing the operations of the CARU Unit 1/Lawsuit Liens.

Essential Functions
- Under general direction, serves as a lead worker to team members performing Child Support Specialist I work functions
- Performs complex professional financial analysis functions related to child support accounts
- Interprets and reviews support orders, both judicial and administrative, for case review and entry into the system
- Serves as an expert witness in court and at administrative hearings
- Resolves customer service issues through direct customer contact or with other state agencies, legal partners, etc., by phone, written correspondence, and e-mail
- Provides input into Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and evaluations
- Participates in the planning and implementing of judicial, administrative, and legislative policies relating to child support services in Illinois
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires two (2) years of Child Support Specialist I experience
- Requires extensive knowledge of court and administrative practices related to parentage and child support
- Requires extensive experience in applying analytical tools to assess a child support case
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to pass a national background check prior to employment due to accessing confidential federal tax information
- Requires the ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop
