Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Learning and Development Manager, the Learning and Development Trainer is responsible for delivering engaging learning experiences that support employee growth, organizational effectiveness, and a culture of continuous learning. This role facilitates instructor-led, virtual, and blended training programs for employees at all levels, with a strong focus on onboarding, professional development, systems training, compliance education, and leadership development support.

 

The Learning and Development Trainer applies adult learning principles and facilitation best practices to create meaningful learning experiences that promote knowledge retention, skill development, and practical application on the job. This role collaborates with subject matter experts, leaders, and other Learning and Development team members to develop, maintain, and deliver high-quality training programs and learning resources.

 

The Learning and Development Trainer serves as a trusted learning partner by identifying training needs, supporting organizational initiatives, and ensuring employees have access to the knowledge and tools necessary for success. This individual contributes to employee development efforts by facilitating training, maintaining learning content, tracking participation, and evaluating learner feedback to continuously improve training effectiveness.

 

Essential Functions

  • Facilitate instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning programs for employees and leaders, ensuring an engaging and effective learning experience.
  • Deliver new hire onboarding programs that support employee integration, understanding of organizational culture, and role readiness.
  • Coordinate and facilitate training related to professional development, leadership development, systems, policies, compliance requirements, and organizational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to develop, update, and maintain training materials, facilitator guides, participant resources, and learning content.
  • Support the design and implementation of learning programs using adult learning principles and instructional design best practices.
  • Partner with leaders and departments to identify training needs and recommend appropriate learning solutions. 

Essential Functions (Continued)

  • Manage training logistics, including scheduling, registration, communications, materials preparation, and classroom or virtual platform setup.
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to assign, track, maintain, and report on learning activities and training completion records.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through participant feedback, assessments, and learning metrics; recommend improvements to enhance learner outcomes.
  • Support organizational change initiatives by developing and delivering training that prepares employees for new processes, systems, and ways of working. 
  • Maintain accurate training records, documentation, and reporting to support compliance, operational, and organizational needs.
  • Perform additional duties in support of employee learning and development as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage adult learners in classroom, virtual, and hybrid learning environments.
  • Ability to assess learning needs and apply adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and training best practices to develop, facilitate, and evaluate learning experiences that improve individual and organizational performance.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with leaders, subject matter experts, and employees across the organization.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Microsoft Office applications, virtual training platforms, and other learning technologies.

  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities, solve problems, and adapt to changing business needs while maintaining professionalism, attention to detail, and exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, accountability, ethical conduct, and delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including day trips and overnight travel, to support organizational and training needs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Three (3) years of experience in corporate training, learning and development, instructional design, or a related field.
  • Experience facilitating instructor-led and virtual training programs for adult learners.
  • Experience developing and maintaining training materials, learning resources, and job aids.
  • Experience administering learning activities and using a Learning Management System (LMS) or similar learning technology.
  • Experience supporting onboarding, systems training, compliance training, or employee development programs is preferred.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPTD, APTD, Certified Facilitator/Trainer, CIDD, or related credentials) are preferred.
