The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Bureau of Professional and Ancillary Services, Institutional Biling and Payment Support Section is the primary section responsible for the payment and support of the state's medical programs. We are seeking an individual with a strong customer service background to add to our Hospital Billing Unit as Medical Assistant Consultant II. This motivated, cordial staff member is the agencies main link to the states hospital billing partners and should be problem solver with stong customer service skills. They will be responsible for researching claim status, resolving claims issues, monitoring medical billing policy changes and many other exciting responsibilites.

Job Responsibilities
- Conducts responsible professional activities

Completes adjustments to correct payments and/or billing errors of medical services

Serves as liaison between medical providers and local offices to resolve problems

Drafts computer system design documents to implement department policy changes

Confers with staff involved in monitoring policy adherence to the program relating to the identification and resolution of problems

Conducts workshops or seminars

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college, with courses in medical social work
- Requires two years professional experience in field related to medical social work
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires extensive knowledge of medical social casework principles and techniques
- Requires extensive knowledge of federal, state and local legislation and agency requirements pertinent to public assistance, medical care and rehabilitation assistance
- Requires working knowledge of social and medical social work literature
- Requires working knowledge of individual, health, rehabilitation and educational needs and community and state resources. Requires ability to direct and give effective consultation and instruction related to professional medical social casework
