Position Overview
The Department of Military Affairs is looking to hire a Military Information Officer II located in Springfield, IL. This position under direct supervision of the Director of Information Management, functions as a specialist and administers the state records management program. The Department of Military Affairs works with the members of the Illinois Air and Army National Guard. We welcome all interested applicants to apply.
Essential Functions
- Administers the state records management program to include Records Holding Area (RHA) and Electronic Records Holding (eRHA) operations.
- Assists in the administration of the Freedom of Information Act / Privacy Act (FOIA/PA) Program.
- Assists in Forms and PublicaEtions Management.
- Expands and improves the control system for the various Administrative Services Activities' supplies and monitors current preventative maintenance program on equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Conditions of Employment
- Requires active or retired (minimum of 20 yrs) membership in the Illinois National Guard or retired (minimum 20 yrs) US Armed Forces, if last duty assignment was with the Illinois National Guard.
- Requires the ability to pass a DoD background investigation and obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) prior to hire or transfer.
- Requires possession of an appropriate valid driver's license.
- Requires working knowledge of Agency programs, rules and regulations. Requires a working knowledge of ILARNG, ILANG, and DOD procedures and units.
- Requires working knowledge of English composition and grammar.
- Requires elementary knowledge of photographic and graphic arts principles and practices.
- Requires ability to lift and carry 70 lbs., i.e., heavy boxes of mail and/or supplies, etc.
- Must successfully complete required training to be a certified mail handler within the first 90 days of employment.
