Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a coordinator and consultant for the Medical Cannabis Registry Program. Provides professional direction, leadership and consultation in the processing of applications for the Medical Cannabis Registry. Serves as working supervisor overseeing the work of the Registry Intake Specialists.

Essential Functions

  • Provides professional direction, medical and clinical expertise, leadership, consultation and training to subordinate staff on the implementation and maintenance of the policies and requirements of the Medical Cannabis Patient Registry Program and its technological systems.
  • Serves as working supervisor.
  • Plans, develops, coordinates and monitors program activities, and conducts annual program reviews.
  • Provides guidance regarding the patient application process to qualified patients and designated caregivers.
  • Speaks to professional and community groups for the purpose of providing education about the Medical Cannabis Patient Registry Program.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing which includes accredited courses in public health nursing.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible nursing experience with an understanding of chronic or infectious diseases.
  • Requires possession of an Illinois license as a Registered Nurse.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years experience providing medical and clinical expertise, consultation and training on policies in regards to Medical Cannabis.
  • Three years experience planning and coordinating program activities.
  • Three years experience providing consultation to physicians to ensure accurate completion of registry applications.
  • Two years experience serving as a supervisor.
  • Two years experience speaking to professional and community groups to provide education about Medical Cannabis.
