Essential Functions

  • Under direction, serves as timekeeper for the Taxpayer Assistance Division and backup timekeeper for the program area.
  • Receives, opens and date stamps incoming mail and faxes.
  • Performs a variety of difficult and specialized clerical duties which involve independent judgment and action.
  • Maintains, controls, disseminates, and retrieves case files utilized within the Section.
  • Receives and directs incoming telephone calls and office visitors to the appropriate area.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  • Requires two years of office experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience calculating, reviewing, and reporting timekeeping for others.
  • Intermediate proficiency utilizing Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
  • Two (2) years of experience utilizing a timekeeping system.
  • Three (3) years of experience composing, proofing and editing professional correspondence.
  • Intermediate proficiency utilizing Microsoft Word or similar word processing software.
  • Two (2) years of experience operating and performing routine maintenance on commonly used manual and automated office equipment.
  • Two (2) years of experience filing professional documents.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to successfully complete a tax compliance and fingerprint-based background check.
  • Requires the ability to use and secure a state issued mobile device, e.g., cellular phone, laptop computer, tablet, etc.
  • This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
