Essential Functions

  • Serves as Receptionist for the Bureau of Environmental Programs by performing a variety of complex, specialized clerical assistance for the Bureau of Environmental Programs, Livestock Facility Regulation program and Agrichemical Containment Program.
  • Gathers, proofs, edits, and organizes materials for bureau’s livestock program and Agrichemical Containment Program.
  • Serves as bureau property control coordinator.
  • Responds to inquiries from the public, applicants, and bureau field staff regarding policy and regulations relating to the Illinois Pesticide Act, Insect Pest and Plant Disease Act, Livestock Management Facilities Act and Agrichemical Containment Program.  
  • Follows oral and written instructions gaining experience and knowledge in and applying evolving automated office equipment and technology to complex tasks.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two years of office experience.
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 45 wpm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers experience with operating commonly used manual and automated office equipment and perform routine maintenance.
  • Prefers intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.
  • Prefers extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires completion of a name-based background screening and self-disclosure of criminal history.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
