Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to perform technical office support functions in the Long-Term Care Facility Staffing Compliance Unit. This individual performs paraprofessional support functions by processing and evaluating resident census and demographic data, facility staffing data, and RN waiver requests in accordance with the Nursing Home Care Act and the Department’s administrative rules. Maintains databases to track facility compliance and prepares reports. Responds to inquiries through written and verbal communication from long term care facilities and department staff. Assists in the processing and mailing of violation notifications.

Essential Functions
- Under direction, performs paraprofessional support functions within the Long-Term Care (LTC) Facility Staffing Compliance Unit.
- Maintains Department’s databases to track LTC facility compliance with the minimum staffing ratio requirements and RN waiver requests.
- Corresponds with LTC Facilities when LTC data is not submitted in a timely manner.
- Assists in making compliance determinations for LTC facilities regarding minimum staffing ratio requirements pursuant to the Nursing Home Care Act and the Department’s administrative rules by reviewing and interpreting the data submitted by LTC facilities.
- Assists in the processing of violations of the minimum staffing ratio requirements.
- Serves as a relief receptionist.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two (2) years related office experience, or two (2) years independent business experience.
- Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 30 words per minute.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year experience processing and preparing documents.
- One (1) year experience of office practices, procedures and policies.
- One (1) year experience following written and oral instructions.
- One (1) year work experience in Microsoft Word, processing, and spreadsheet applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel PowerPoint, Smartsheet).
- One (1) year experience exercising judgement, discretion and maintaining confidentiality.
