This position is responsible for researching taxpayer data, inputting account and program area data, maintaining inventory and listings for routine and ad hoc reporting, processing payments, as well as timekeeping functions. Essential Functions

  • Under direction, performs a variety of specialized and complex clerical and keyboarding duties of a confidential and general nature for the Sales & Miscellaneous Tax Manager.
  • Gathers and compiles data from taxpayer records for audits, taxpayer requests, reports, or for other areas of IDOR, as requested by the manager or Audit personnel.
  • Maintains a variety of general and confidential files.
  • Coordinates inventory and reporting for a variety of program area tasks.
  • Researches GenTax system, taxpayer account files and other resource material to obtain specific information needed by auditors.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college, -OR- completion of high school and two years of related office experience, -OR- two years of independent business experience.
  • Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience as a receptionist with duties such as answering and directing phone calls, providing nontechnical information and assistance in person and by phone, and delivering incoming mail to appropriate staff.
  • Four (4) years of experience using computer programs/software such as Microsoft Office Suite or similar platforms for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and email.
  • Three (3) years of experience keyboarding a variety of difficult material including records, reports, correspondence and other documents including general proofreading of those documents.
  • Two (2) years of experience with operating and performing routine maintenance on automated office equipment.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to successfully complete a tax compliance and fingerprint-based background check.
  2. Requires the ability to use and secure a state issued mobile device, e.g., cellular phone, laptop computer, tablet, etc.
