Position overview:
The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Medical Programs/Bureau of Hospital and Provider Services is seeking to hire a motivated individual with medical knowledge to serve as an Office Specialist. This position will work This position will research and identify entry problems/discrepancies within the automated records and applications for providers. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and can collaborate across agencies to ensure seamless coverage, in addition to containing knowledge and experience in the fields of medical care.

Essential Functions
- Conducts complex, specialized technical duties in the automated procedures for tracking, entering and reviewing correspondence
- Researches and identifies entry problems associated with medical providers rejected claims and Medicare crossover rejections from Medical Management Information Systems (MMIS)
- Receives and reviews correspondence from medical providers to determine action for updating and correcting the Non-Institutional/Institutional Unit’s applications
- Receives, reviews and sort documents provided by medical providers for entry into the imaging application
- Responds to inquiries from providers requesting information/application on becoming a provider in the Illinois Medical Assistance Program
- Attends meetings
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to (2) two years of secretarial/business college and (1) one year of office experience, or completion of high school and (3) three years office experience, or (3) three years of independent business experience
Qualifying state employees, in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
