Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire an Office Coordinator for the Office of Law Enforcement. This position will participate in and promote Safety Education programs, provide specialized office support functions, prepare and process requisitions, and use the computer to prepare a variety of documents, databases and spreadsheets. Essential Functions
- Under general direction, provides secretarial and complex support to Unit Supervisor and professional staff.
- Serves as secretary for the Safety Education Section.
- Develops complex database and spreadsheets to ensure Safety Education program compliance with statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate volunteer resources at public activities and events for Safety Education programs, ie., IDNR events, BB Range, Community/Public Safety Days, Conservation Police Officer events, Public/Parochial School events.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to (2) two years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two years of related office experience, or two years of independent business experience.
- Ability to keyboard accurately at 35 wpm.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers (2) two years' experience utilizing extensive knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Prefers (2) two years' experience utilizing extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Prefers (2) two years' experience utilizing extensive knowledge of arithmetic computations.
- Prefers (2) two years' experience utilizing extensive knowledge of the logic of computer language/programs.
- Prefers (2) two years' experience utilizing extensive knowledge of manual and automated office equipment.
- Prefers (2) two years' experience utilizing working knowledge of agency programs, rules and regulations.
- Prefers ability to instruct, guide and train others.

Office of Law Enforcement
The Office of Law Enforcement (OLE) supports the Department's programs designed to protect Illinois' natural and recreational resources through enforcement of those portions of the Illinois Compiled Statutes enacted for that purpose. Conservation Police Officers are vested with full state-wide police authority and are trained to the highest standards for law enforcement professionals in Illinois.
In addition to these enforcement responsibilities, Conservation Police Officers serve as an important link between the Department and its various constituencies (civic groups, sportsmen's groups, sport shows, etc.). These officers are called upon to assist outside agencies in emergency situations or rescue operations. They participate in the instruction of conservation related statutes to outside agencies, law enforcement organizations, or educational institutions upon request.
