Position Overview
Under administrative direction, directs the state wide activities of the General Investigations Unit in accordance with the various licensing acts and the rules and regulations promulgated by the Division for the administration of those acts. Reviews, plans, develops and implements policies and procedures. Controls the activities involved in the implementation of overt/covert investigations. Serves as liaison between the Department and other State, Federal, and local agencies. Reviews files and reports. Serves as working supervisor. Travels to attend and participate in committee/board meetings.

Essential Functions
- Develops, implements, and administers state-wide policies and procedures for the enforcement of investigations under the acts assigned to the unit.
- Organizes, plans, and controls the activities involved in the implementation of overt/covert investigations of practitioners under the acts assigned to the unit.
- Serves as liaison between the Department and other State, Federal, and local agencies; i.e., Department of State Police, Office of the Attorney General, local law officials, professional societies and regulatory groups, and other agencies as mandated by the specialty of the investigation involved.
- Reviews files and reports.
- Serves as working supervisor for investigative staff.
- Travels to attend and participate in committee/board meetings to report on investigative related matters/issues.
- Enters data on personal computer and/or laptop computer concerning investigative activities.
- Participates in the development of the section's budget.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with coursework in law enforcement.
- Requires three years of responsible administrative experience in law enforcement investigations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least seven years of experience as a law enforcement officer.
- Prefers at least six years of experience working as a lead detective or lead investigator in law enforcement or a related field.
- Prefers at least five years of experience as a supervisor of a staff of two or more in law enforcement or a related field.
Conditions of Employment

- Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties.
- Requires possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license.
