Essential Functions
- Serves as Unit Manager of the Environmental Programs Pesticide Laboratory.
- Serves as the Technical and Analytical Expert of the Environmental Programs Pesticide Laboratory.
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Manages laboratory support and safety programs.
- Assist the Pesticides Laboratory Staff with Procedures conducted in the Lab.
- Attends and/or conducts meetings with Department of Agriculture officials, representatives of other states, local and federal agencies, and a variety of outside interest groups.
- Provides professional input to budgetary process by developing narratives and justifications regarding the operation of the Illinois Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Environmental Programs Pesticide Laboratory.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Specialized Skills
- Requires minimum three (3) years performing analysis of prepared samples by High Performance Liquid Chromatography with ultraviolet detection (HPLC/UV), Gas Chromatography with Electron-capture detection (GC/ECD), Gas Chromatography with Flame-ionization detection (GC/FID), Gas Chromatography with Mass Selective Detection (GC/MSD) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography with triple quadruple mass spectrometer (LC/MS/MS).
- Requires minimum three (3) years of experience in the operation and basic maintenance of the following instruments: UPLC-HRMS, HPLC/MS/MS, GC/MSD, GC/FID, GC/ECD, HPLC/UV.
- Requires minimum two (2) years of experience with the following software packages: Agilent Chemstation, Shimadzu Lab Solutions, Waters MassLynx and QuanLynx, and ThermoScientific Tracefinder and XCaliber.
- Requires a minimum three (3) years in-lab experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the fields of environmental or physical sciences.
Preferred Qualifications
