Position Overview

The Office of Business Services is seeking to hire an Office Coordinator for the Bureau of Support Operations located in Springfield, Illinois. This position will serve as Property Control Support Coordinator utilizing personal computer (PC) and Local Area Network (LAN) technology with word processing capacity; uses the most complex and technical application of Word-Perfect formatting codes in the preparation of complex reports and correspondence; keyboards a variety of difficult and complex materials from handwritten hard copy; uses independent judgement in determining routing of incoming calls, takes messages, and verifies phone coverage; keyboards routine correspondence, travel requests and vouchers, mailing lists, and form letters; proofreads and edits keyboarded materials to correct typographical errors, spelling and punctuation and to ensure correct format; serves as backup timekeeper; and assists in the coordination and maintenance of inventory files.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Serves as Property Control Support Coordinator utilizing personal computer (PC) and Local Area Network (LAN) technology with word processing capacity, uses the most complex and technical application of Word-Perfect formatting codes in the preparation of complex reports and correspondence.
  2. Utilizing PC and LAN technology with word processing capacity, keyboards a variety of difficult and complex materials from handwritten hard copy.
  3. Uses independent judgement in determining routing of incoming calls, takes messages, and verifies phone coverage.
  4. Keyboards routine correspondence, travel requests and vouchers, mailing lists, and form letters.
  5. Reviews and edits documents for accuracy in spelling and punctuation and to ensure correct format.
  6. Serves as backup timekeeper.
  7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of secretarial/business college OR completion of high school and two (2) years of related office experience OR two (2) years of independent business experience.
  2. Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.
