Position Overview:
The Illinois Department of Transportation seeks to hire a Recruitment Manager. The successful candidate will assist in the creation and implementation of recruitment and outreach strategies and methods to attract a qualified, diverse applicant pool.
Essential Functions
- Under direction, serves as a Recruitment Representative for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), preparing and conducting recruitment and outreach activities. Assists in the creation and implementation of recruitment and outreach strategies and methods to attract a qualified, diverse applicant pool.
- Serves as a representative of the department for recruitment and outreach.
- Implements departmental policies and procedures to support the effective delivery of diversity programs by interpreting guidelines, coordinating program activities, ensuring compliance with equal opportunity and equity standards, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to promote inclusive practices across the organization.
- Maintains all records pertaining to the recruitment process.
- Participates in the interview process on an as needed basis.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope for the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience, preferably in human resources, or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer one (1) year of experience engaging and building rapport with prospective applicants from underrepresented ethnic groups.
- Prefer one (1) year of experience advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion goals and relevant business practices.
- Prefer one (1) year of experience recruiting for positions that are in high demand at a national level.
- Prefer one (1) year of experience recruiting for a variety of professions.
- Prefer one (1) year of experience coordinating a schedule with a large number of events.
- Prefer intermediate skill in the utilization of Microsoft Office Suite and recruitment software applications.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
