The Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) is seeking to hire two Reproduction Service Technician II's. These positions are under the Operational/Special Services’ program area and will work directly under the Print Shop Supervisor in the Inserting & Shred Unit. The ideal candidates will be able to operate inserting equipment on a high-volume, fast-paced production basis for the mailing of various tax forms, informational bulletins, system-generated correspondence, and other tax-related printed copies. The individuals will be able to operate the offset duplicating machines, including jet press, sheet-fed presses, and plate makers. The individuals will also be able to operate bindery equipment, is experienced with following job tickets from start to finish, and has experience adjusting, cleaning, and performing other minor maintenance on automated inserting equipment and other equipment found in a professional Print Shop. Job Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision, operates the automated inserting equipment on a high-volume, fast-paced production basis for the mailing of various tax forms, informational bulletins, system-generated correspondence, and other tax related printed copies.
  • Operates bindery equipment including, but not limited to, folders, cutters, collators, laser/manual engravers, 3-hole punch machine, and tie machine initiated through job ticket requests from user areas.
  • Receives daily batch reports generated through GenTax.
  • Adjusts, cleans, lubricates, and performs minor maintenance on automated inserting equipment, and all bindery equipment (folders, collators, paper cutters, plate makers and related machines).
  • Serves as back-up operator for the offset duplicating machines, including single head and tandem head presses, on a volume production basis to print tax forms and related instructions and schedules, manuals, form letters, internal forms, and brochures.
  • Serves as a back-up for the shred operations.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.
  • Requires one year of experience in the print reproduction trade.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience operating equipment utilized in the print reproduction trade.
  • Two (2) years of experience maintaining and repairing offset press, bindery, and direct press duplicator equipment.
  • Two (2) years of experience recognizing production errors and correcting them with limited waste of materials.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a fast-paced production heavy environment while maintaining harmonious working relationships.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with paper stocks / weights, ink types, and printing chemicals used in offset press or copy operations.
  • Two (2) years of experience following shop safety procedures.
  • One (1) year of experience following new and revised methods and procedures.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to successfully complete a tax compliance and fingerprint-based background check.
  • Requires the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time operating machinery and monitoring print jobs.
  • Requires the ability to lift heavy objects above shoulder level.
  • Requires ability to operate a forklift.
  • This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
