Position overview:

 

The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), Division of Finance, Bureau of Fiscal Operations is seeking to hire an energetic Refunds and Recoveries Processor. This position is responsible for analyzing and identifying codes and entering various cash receipts into the Department's accounting system; reviewing and reconciling monthly and quarterly reports relating to collections and daily deposits; reconciling the State Treasurer's general ledger reports with the Department’s Receipt Deposit Transmittal and Clearing Account Draft Summary reports; maintaining appropriate files by fund relating to receipt documents and deposits; and analyzing and reconciling final monthly reports.

Essential Functions

  • Under general supervision, serves as a Refunds and Recoveries Processor for the Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Finance, Bureau of Fiscal Operations by analyzing and identifying codes and entering various cash receipts into the Department's accounting system for various Department programs
  • Reviews and reconciles monthly and quarterly reports relating to collections and daily deposits
  • Reconciles the State Treasurer's general ledger reports with the Department’s Receipt Deposit Transmittal and Clearing Account Draft Summary reports
  • Maintains appropriate files by fund relating to receipt documents and deposits
  • Analyzes and reconciles final monthly reports
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting or four (4) years of technical accounting experience
  • Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification
