Position Overview:
The Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) Bureau of Technical Operations (BTO) is seeking to hire an experienced Software Support Analyst to join our team supporting the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT). The DoIT Team at HFS is leading a transformation to modernize the way citizens interact with the State of Illinois agency responsible for providing a wide variety of healthcare and family services/benefits to Illinois residents. This position involves supporting the HFS infrastructure in the Database Management unit. The ideal candidate will have an IT background with production experience on an IBM mainframe. Essential Functions
- Under administrative direction, serves as a Senior Software Support Analyst for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS)
- Supports the production, Scheduling, Output Management, and Printing environments, using CA-Scheduler, Mobius, XPAF, Elixar, and Xerox forms development software
- Serves as a technical liaison related to Electronic Data Interchange traffic between Healthcare & Family Services and external trading partners or other state agencies
- Utilizing powerful and complex software, repairs and monitors software integrity; determines implementation dates for new and/or upgraded software and hardware on Z/OS and client environments
- Conducts in-depth research studies to evaluate packages and utilities available to enhance the performance of system tuning
- Keeps abreast of new development in the IT field
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields
- Requires three (3) years of professional experience in a related Information Technology field
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience utilizing Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL), EZTRIEVE, and Assembler
- Three (3) years of experience with IBM-supplied core utilities for Z/OS 3
- Three (3) years of experience with command list (CLIST), Dialog Manager, and/or REXX
- Two (2) years of experience with PANVALET, TELON MVS, IBM Debug, and File Manager
- One (1) year of professional technical support experience in management/administration of any of the following software: CA-Scheduler, Mobius, XPAF, Elixar, Xerox forms definition and handling utilities, TELON PWS, MFE, PVCS, and/or PANAPT
- Two (2) years of experience presenting technical information to others with clarity and precision
- Two (2) years of experience maintaining satisfactory working relationships with others.
Specialized Skills
- Requires three (3) years of experience utilizing Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL), EZTRIEVE, and Assembler
- Requires three (3) years of experience with IBM-supplied core utilities for Z/OS
- Requires three (3) years of experience with command list (CLIST), Dialog Manager, and/or REXX
- Requires two years (2) of experience with PANVALET, TELON MVS, IBM Debug, and File Manager
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight says as appropriate
- Requires the ability to pass a position specific, agency required background check
- Requires the ability to utilize and maintain the use of agency-supplied equipment (mobile phone, laptop, etc.)
- Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends
- Requires the ability to lift and carry objects or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. This is considered light work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(b)). Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. This job may require a good deal of walking or standing or involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls
