Job Responsibilities

 

30%

1.    Manages the receipt, storage, issuance, and delivery of varied stock.
•    Checks quality of merchandise delivered to the Hanley Building facility.
•    Prepares reports of receipt and forwards to the Bureau of Business Services' accounts payable staff.
•    Notifies purchaser of receipt of delivery for pickup, and/or when appropriate, operates large delivery truck to deliver to purchaser's location.

2.    Takes physical inventories and balances these results against perpetual inventory records.
•    Prepares inventory records of stock supplies in warehouse facility.
•    Makes estimates of stock needs and reports recommendations for the purchase of supplies to management.

3. Unloads and inspects goods received from vendors.

•    Determines the quantity and quality of all materials received for conformance with pre-described specifications.
•    Verifies condition of items received, checks receiving invoice to receiving document, and contacts vendor regarding problem shipments.

4.    Participates in the development of efficient warehouse methods and techniques.
•    Makes recommendations to supervisor regarding the procurement of material handling systems, equipment, and storage receptacles.
•    Plans and organizes warehouse space and stock to achieve maximum efficiency of space and labor.

5. Manages the operation of the Central Stockroom in the absence of the Central Warehouse Administrator.

6.  Performs other  duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above. 

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Minimum Qualifications

1.    Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of high school.
2.    Two years of experience in the keeping of stores and store records.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1.    Working knowledge of storeroom and warehouse methods and procedures in the receipt, storage, and shipment of a variety of goods.
2.    Ability to keep perpetual inventory records.

3.    Ability to instruct others in stock handling duties.
4.    Ability to prepare records and reports.
5.    Ability to make inspections for quality of goods against purchase orders and specifications.
