Position Summary
CMS Surplus Equipment is seeking a knowledgeable, self-motivated, and customer-focused professional to fill the position of Storekeeper 3 - Vehicle Sales Manager. This position performs technical and administrative work related to the evaluation, marketing, sale, and disposal of surplus vehicles. Responsibilities include coordinating vehicle intake, preparing vehicles for sale, assisting public and government customers, maintaining sales records, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies and procedures. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of vehicle valuation, sales practices, inventory management, and customer service. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, interacting with a diverse customer base, and supporting the efficient disposition of state-owned assets. Position Essential Functions
- Under general direction, performs storekeeper activities for the State Surplus property section.
- Serves as liaison to agencies, boards, commission, universities, constitutional officeholders, Members of the General Assembly, local governments, and not-for-profit organizations relative to the state vehicle surplus program.
- Manages, coordinates, and executes all aspects of public surplus vehicles sales.
- Serves as lead worker to lower-level staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years high school.
- Requires two years supervisory experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers extensive knowledge of storekeeping and warehousing methods and procedures in the receipt, storage, and shipment of a variety of goods.
- Prefers one (1) year professional experience being a lead worker to lower-level staff, contractual and summer workers.
- Prefers one (1) year professional experience in the supervision of warehouse operations and keeping perpetual inventory records.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
- Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This may require the ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with assistance while frequently lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
