This position serves as a Senior Application Developer supporting the IL Gaming Board (IGB). In this role, you will coordinate and conduct difficult and specialized application development using designated software/programming language for the database design, program design, and supplied support tools for testing the new processes. In addition, you will perform functional and technical activities in the design of information processing systems and perform on-line and batch application development/support. This position assists users and operations staff in analyzing results of processing in a production application and serves as a senior team member responsible for scheduled and remedial maintenance to assigned applications. Essential Functions
- Under administrative direction, serves as a Senior Application Developer for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB), performing complex professional and advisory functions in Application Services for the Programming Unit
- Independently performs difficult functional and technical activities associated with the support of a production information processing application.
- Analyzes and recommends new procedures and techniques to improve the supported application systems.
- Serves as a senior team member responsible for scheduled and remedial maintenance to assigned applications.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology field by continuing education through meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
- Requires three (3) years of professional experience in application services or an Information Technology field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of professional experience with database application development.
- Three (3) years of professional experience with system development life cycle (SDLC) processes to design and perform high quality programming.
- Three (3) years of professional experience performing technical and functional activities utilizing ASP.NET, C#, Crystal Reports, JavaScript, Microsoft Access, SQL Management Studio, SQL Server, Visual Basic (VB), Visual Studio, and VB.NET.
- Three (3) years of professional experience using Azure DevOps for software development.
- Three (3) years of professional experience assisting users and operations staff in analyzing results of processing in a production application.
- Three (3) years of professional experience analyzing and recommending new procedures and techniques to improve the supported application systems.
- Extensive knowledge of the methods, procedures, and techniques of conducting feasibility studies for system conversions and enhancements.
- Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, clients, and others.
- Developed verbal and written communication skills to present technical information to others with clarity and precision.
- Ability to analyze and diagnose system issues and coordinate efforts to resolve.
Specialized Skills
- Requires three (3) years of professional experience with database application development.
