This position serves as a Senior Technician performing complex professional and advisory functions in the Midrange Systems Operations Section of DoIT. This position also performs complex functional and technical activities supporting utility and production stand-alone, local area network, client server or otherwise integrated information processing systems. In this role you will conduct and coordinate in-depth studies involving substantial technical research and systems analysis. In addition, you will perform complex research and support activities for the division and serve as a project team lead for assigned major and complex projects and very large hardware/software deployments. Essential Functions
• Under administrative direction, serves as a Senior Technician for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), performing complex professional and advisory functions in System Services and determining and advising on the development of components to support modern systems development methodologies and standard operation procedures.
• Performs complex functional and technical activities supporting utility and production stand-alone, LAN, client server, or otherwise integrated information processing systems.
• Conducts and coordinates in-depth studies involving substantial technical research and systems analysis and provides agency management with high level technical assistance in the development, analysis, interpretation, evaluation, modification, and installation of comprehensive information systems.
• Performs complex research and support activities for the division and assists with the support of the entire department’s staff, including field personnel and other remote workers.
• Serves as a project lead for assigned major and complex projects and very large hardware and software deployments while independently planning, developing, and implementing techniques for gathering and interpreting data.
• Provides and coordinates advanced training in areas of Midrange Wintel and Software Management and provides complex technical and analytical support to new analysts and lower-level staff.
• Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with coursework in computer science or directly related fields.
- Requires three (3) years of professional experience in System Services or a related Information Technology field.
Specialized Skills
- Requires three (3) years of professional experience administering and supporting in Microsoft (MS) platforms and systems, including X86, 32-bit and 64 bit, MS Windows Server, and Windows desktop systems
- Requires three (3) years of professional experience developing and executing automation scripts or system tasks using tools such as Power Shell, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Microsoft Power BI, and Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) server.
- Requires three (3) years of professional experience supporting enterprise infrastructure technologies, including server clusters, server mirroring, SAN environments, Active Directory, and internet-based systems.
- Requires three (3) years of professional experience performing complex system analysis and design, developing and implementing program modifications and conducting system and user acceptance testing.
Preferred Qualifications
• Three (3) years of professional experience administering and supporting in Microsoft (MS) platforms and systems, including X86, 32-bit and 64 bit, MS Windows Server, and Windows desktop systems.
• Three (3) years of professional experience developing and executing automation scripts or system tasks using tools such as Power Shell, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Microsoft Power BI, and Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) server.
• Three (3) years of professional experience supporting enterprise infrastructure technologies, including server clusters, server mirroring, SAN environments, Active Directory, and internet-based systems.
• Three (3) years of professional experience performing complex system analysis and design, developing and implementing program modifications and conducting system and user acceptance testing.
• Three (3) years of professional experience leading or coordinating complex IT Infrastructure projects, including hardware/software deployments, system upgrades, and configuration rollouts.
• Three (3) years of professional experience drafting technical documentation such as system implementation plans, cost/benefit analysis, and project schedules.
• Extensive knowledge of enterprise IT architecture, including hardware and software standards, to provide technical and analytical support across integrated systems
• Ability to coordinate work activities across technical teams and stakeholders to achieve project or system goals.
• Developed verbal and written communications skills to clearly present technical information to stakeholders, including agency management, users, and cross-functional teams.
