The Deputy Governor for Budget & Economy is searching for a detail-oriented, self-motivated Projects Manager.  A successful candidate will be conscientious at thoroughly, timely, and thoughtfully completing projects for the Deputy Governor and his team.  If you are a smart and resilient team player looking for high-quality, impactful work that is different every day, this position could be for you!  The Budget & Economy portfolio handles many of the State’s most complex regulatory, operational, and economic agencies, boards, and commissions.  This position is located in Springfield and, though it may be eligible for a hybrid schedule, requires regular and consistent in-person attendance at the Springfield office.

 

Duties:

The Projects Manager will assist the Deputy Governor and First Assistant Deputy Governor with tasks related to the overall efficient operation of the agencies within the Budget& Economy portfolio.  AT the direction of the Deputy Governor and team, Projects Manager:

  • will liaise with portfolio agencies on action items;
  • track, maintain, and report on agency deliverables;
  • and ensure agency alignment on matters of interest to the Deputy Governor’s team.

The Projects Manager will work closely with the fiscal staff at the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget. This work will include:

  • reviewing and comprehending extensive budgetary and fiscal data;
  • managing budget-related action items; and
  • and completing reports of this work to the Deputy Governor and team.

This position will be primarily responsible for working with the Governor’s Office Executive Appointments team to manage Board and Commission appointments within, or impacting, the Budget & Economy portfolio.

At the direction of the Deputy Governor and First Assistant Deputy Governor, this position will be responsible for conducting research related to various policy initiatives and providing high-quality reports and recommendations on those policy matters for consideration by Governor’s Office staff.

The Deputy Governor and First Assistant Deputy Governor will rely on the Project Manager to thoroughly support public events, including scheduling, logistics, and developing briefing materials for the Deputy Governor and First Assistant Deputy Governor’s use.

In addition to other duties as assigned, the Project Manager will also provide general administrative support to the Deputy Governor and his team.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with courses in accounting, finance, public administration, or similar fields.

Successful candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

 

Preferred Experience:

Work experience in a state agency or local government office is preferred.
