Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Structured Interview/Classification Specialist.  Under general direction, this position will serve as a team leader on special projects and in day-to-day functioning of the Classification/Structured Interview Unit.  The position will review interview instruments developed by agency management, personnel liaisons, and others to ensure appropriateness and adherence to CMS Structured Interview guidelines and requirements.  This position will also compose and develop draft interview instruments for all titles upon request, with a particular focus on the more complex, detailed interview instruments utilized for positions in advanced classifications.  Additionally, the position will perform complex, specialized professional duties in the area of position classification.  This position provides a great opportunity for an organized, detail-oriented person who is interested in ensuring that personnel activities are performed in an efficient manner to effectively support the Department’s operations.  DCFS offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program.  The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent organizational skills and strong leadership skills.  We invite you to join our innovative team to help make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of Illinois.

Job Responsibilities

1.  Serves as Structured Interview/Classification Specialist

2.  Composes and develops draft interview instruments for all titles upon request, with a particular focus on the more complex, detailed interview instruments utilized for positions in advanced classifications

3.  Performs complex, specialized professional duties in the area of position classification

4.  Conducts research and develops reports related to structured interviews, classification, and other human resources issues

5.  Collaborates with CMS regarding structured interview training for Department staff when questions arise

6.  Provides extensive training regarding unit processes, policies, practices, and procedures

7.  Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

1.  Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college

2.  Requires two years of professional human resources experience

Specialized Skills:

Of the previously noted years of experience, requires one year of experience developing organizational structures or composing and reviewing job descriptions; requires one year of experience reviewing and approving/disapproving structured interview instruments or conducting training regarding structured interview processes and requirements

 

Preferred Qualifications

1.  2 years of human resources classification and/or structured interview experience in a public or business organization

2.  1 year of experience conducting training in a public or business organization

3.  2 years of experience exercising extensive knowledge of human resources concepts in a public or business organization
