Job Summary

Under direct supervision of the Technical Systems Supervisor, the Technical Support Specialist will provide technical support to TRS employees, Trustees, Consultants, and other users of TRS’ computing environment and equipment. This position is responsible for providing frontline support through a centralized Help Desk and will perform on-call services when necessary.  

Essential Functions

  • Assist in managing Windows/Linux workstations 
  • Upgrading, installing, and configuring application software and computer hardware 
  • Provide frontline helpdesk support resolving tickets in a timely manner with limited disruptions 
  • Assist with drafting and/or updating procedures and documentation as assigned 
  • Assist IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure 
  • Training technical and non-technical staff on new systems, protocols, and best practices 
  • Work alternate shifts when necessary and serve in an on-call capacity, including holidays and weekends as designated by the Technical Systems Manager or Supervisor 
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or other related technical discipline 
  • Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis 
  • Fundamental knowledge of and experience working with PowerShell or other scripting language 
  • Established communication skills, emotional intelligence, humility, and drive 
  • Must be able to work within a fast-paced environment that requires frequent attention shifts 
  • Proactive, self-starter able to work with limited supervision 
  • Good time management skills
