Job Responsibilities
Under direction, prepares, keyboards, and processes a variety of complex materials; performs data entry of the 552 coding into the Medicaid system; provides identification of our cases to DHFS to ensure the case status reflects the proper Medicaid/Title IV-E or Non-Medicaid eligibility for Federal Medicaid claiming purposes; processes address corrections for DCFS youth in care during placement changes; retrieves and verifies pertinent and confidential information from DHS computer systems to determine prior involvement with federal Medicaid programs; exercises judgment and conducts involved searches from multiple information sources to determine DCFS youth in care medical eligibility, utilizing DHS, HFS, and DCFS computer systems.
1. Prepares, keyboards, and processes a variety of complex materials, utilizing personal computer and office equipment, including highly technical reports, statistical data, department forms, as well as correspondence; performs data entry of the 552 coding into the Medicaid system; provides identification of our cases to DHFS to ensure the case status reflects the proper Medicaid/Title IV-E or Non-Medicaid eligibility for Federal Medicaid claiming purposes; exercises independent judgment and a command of legal, medical, and social terminology to review documents; proofs for appropriate use of terms and accuracy of information.
2. Processes address corrections for DCFS youth in care during placement changes; processes redeterminations on cases that require continuous eligibility and that meet the requirements to ensure coverage during transition and process.
3. Retrieves and verifies pertinent and confidential information from DHS computer systems to determine prior involvement with federal Medicaid programs and requests cancellation of active DHS grants for youth in DCFS custody.

4. Exercises judgment and conducts involved searches from multiple information sources to determine DCFS youth in care medical eligibility, utilizing DHS, HFS, and DCFS computer systems; reviews and processes billing information received from medical providers to determine DCFS responsibility
5. Explains rules and procedures regarding the case and registration of medical coverage to other data entry staff; provides assistance to other staff in completing work associated with medical coverage as needed.
6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and 2 years office experience
- Requires ability to use personal computers and Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
- Requires extensive knowledge of office practices, procedures, and programs, and a working knowledge of basic mathematics
- Requires skill in keyboarding accurately at 45 wpm
