Job Responsibilities

Under general direction, performs professional consultative and coordinative functions in volunteerism programs. Assists in developing volunteer resources by scheduling workshops and training; conducts volunteer and volunteer management training. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with community leaders in the assigned geographical area to recruit, plan and utilize community volunteer resources.

 

  1. Performs professional consultative and coordinative functions in the volunteerism programs. Consults and advises local governments and communities regarding the organization, development and integration of volunteer resources who meet the goals of the AmeriCorps and state volunteer programs. Develops and maintains policies and procedures for the efficient and effective utilization of resources for the programs that promote national service and use volunteers.
  2. Assists in developing volunteer resources by scheduling workshops and training; conducts volunteer and volunteer management training; provides articles and input into newsletters for wide distribution among volunteer agencies. Develops, conducts and analyzes surveys of volunteer resources, experiences and recruitment. Develop and provides materials for volunteers and community leaders.
  3. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with community leaders in the assigned geographical area to recruit, plan and utilize community volunteer resources. Develops and provides training materials for volunteers and community leaders.
  4. Travels to plan and conduct special events for volunteer programs; participates and/or coordinates volunteer fairs or special events in local communities. Develops and/or promotes publications for special events. 
  5. Assists in development of policies, regulations, methods, and standards for volunteer services programs.
  6. Participates in education, training and response activities such as staffing the Public Health Emergency Operations Center (PHEOC); State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC); Joint Operations Center (JOC); Receive, State and Store (RSS); Regional Distribution Center (RDC) and the Unified Area Command (UAC).

 

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years college, preferably with courses in the social sciences.
  • Requires three years professional experience in volunteer services program management, community organization or management of a social services delivery program.
  • Requires ability to travel in and out of state.
  • Prefers previous training experience

 

Work Hours:  Monday - Friday 8:00 to 4:30
