We are hiring a Warehouse and Delivery Staff Lead Worker (STOREKEEPER II) for our Operational / Special Services’ Warehouse in Springfield, Illinois. This position serves as a lead worker and is responsible for performing a variety of activities with the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and commodities for the Agency. Essential Functions

  • Under direction, performs a variety of activities involved in the receipt, storage and distribution of materials and supplies utilized by the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR).
  • Serves as lead worker.
  • Maintains established inventory levels of storeroom and warehouse items.
  • Compiles and prepares and/or directs the preparation of statistical and inventory reports.
  • Works with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) onsite Safety Coordinator to provide the hands-on safety portion of the forklift certification for all IDOR staff.
  • Contacts carriers (U.P.S., truck transport, etc.) for shipment of large volumes of printed materials and prepares shipping documents and records.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school.
  • Requires two years’ experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience supervising and instructing others in inventory control and warehousing duties.
  • Two (2) years of experience with storekeeping and warehousing methods and procedures in the receipt, storage, and shipment of a variety of goods.
  • Two (2) years of experience assembling, packing, loading/unloading, and transporting stored goods or materials.
  • Two (2) years of experience with inventory, including conducting, reconciling, and tracking goods or materials.
  • Two (2) years of experience coordinating multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
  • Two (2) years of experience preparing stock records, shipping, and receiving, and reports.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to successfully complete a fingerprint-based background check and tax clearance.
  2. Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid class “C” commercial driver’s license.
  3. Requires the ability to lift heavy objects above shoulder level.
  4. Requires the ability to operate a hand jack, forklift, and straddle truck upon completion of onsite training.
  5. Requires the ability to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time in performance of duties.
  6. This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  7. Requires the ability to use and secure a state issued mobile device, e.g., cellular phone, laptop computer, tablet, etc.
