Job Summary

The Workday Functional Analyst serves as a strategic partner and subject matter expert, bridging HR and Finance business needs with technical solutions to help TRS achieve our objectives. This role is responsible for optimizing Workday functionality across HCM and Financial modules, translating complex business requirements into system configurations that deliver compelling business value while supporting TRS's strategic growth.

 

Working closely with the assigned Workday Product Owner, HR and Finance stakeholders, and our vendor partners, the analyst ensures the platform evolves to meet organizational needs through thoughtful system configuration, custom reporting and analytics, business process optimization, and day-to-day application support. This position requires someone who combines technical Workday expertise with strong business acumen, exceptional emotional intelligence, and collaborative partnership skills to position Workday as a strategic enabler across the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for Workday HCM and Financial modules, ensuring the platform meets business and stakeholder needs.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Product teams to gather, document, and translate business requirements into functional system
  • Support business process optimization by providing Workday expertise and insights, working with stakeholders to identify opportunities for increased automation and efficiency
  • Assist with intake and prioritization of Workday change requests to align with HR and Accounting strategic goals.
  • Evaluate bi-annual Workday releases to determine benefits to stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into human-centered functional design specifications for highly complex business processes.
  • Configure and implement system changes, including business process design, to achieve optimized functionality and streamlined processes.
  • Design and deliver custom reports, dashboards, and analytics using Workday reporting tools to support data-driven decision making.
  • Identify configuration strategies, risks, and options; recommend approaches and mitigations to meet functional requirements

  • Provide day-to-day system support, including troubleshooting data and system issues, recommending solutions that address root cause, and implementing enhancements and fixes.
  • Support and monitor integration with internal systems and third-party applications.
  • Provide end-user support, including ticket management via ticketing system.
  • Participate in change management and go-live support processes.
  • Design and facilitate user acceptance testing frameworks with business stakeholders to ensure solutions deliver intended business outcomes.
  • Develop end-to-end testing strategies across technical and operational teams, including test planning, execution tracking, and traceability to requirements.
  • Support the deployment of system updates and bi-annual releases, including regression testing cross-functionally across all stakeholders.
  • Support all phases of the system development life cycle, including development of use cases and evaluation of software solutions.
  • Perform technical research on upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current systems.
  • Write and maintain system documentation, including detailed flow charts and diagrams outlining system capabilities and processes.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured and detail-oriented approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Information Technology or related field; or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience with Workday configuration and suppor
  • Strong knowledge of Workday HCM and Financial modules.
  • Experience with Workday integrations (EIB, Core Connectors, Studio, or Cloud Connect)
  • Understanding of HR and Finance business processes and best practices
  • Experience with Workday Report Writing and Calculated Fields
  • Knowledge of Workday security model and role-based permissions
  • Experience supporting Workday through bi-annual releases
