Essential Functions

  • Under general direction, serves as a .Net Web Developer for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the Illinois Department of Labor, performing difficult and specialized professional work for the Information Systems Division of the Department of Labor (DOL)
  • Develops and applies crosschecks and auditing procedures to assure accuracy and reliable practices
  • Reviews, evaluates, and tests software platforms to create databases using Transact SQL and Microsoft SQL for automating regulatory and monitoring functions or to improve existing systems for the Department
  • Provides advanced group and one-on-one training on the use of newly developed applications and the software utilized by the Department
  • Provides DOL management with technical assistance and advice in the development evaluation, modification, and installation of data tracking systems for several divisions using SharePoint, Adobe forms and web applications to ensure data produced meets management needs
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology field by continuing education through meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science, or directly related fields. 
  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience in a related Information Technology field.

Specialized Skills

  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience developing windows-based and web-based applications using .Net framework, jQuery, Bootstrap, C# (C Sharp), or SharePoint.
  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience reviewing, evaluating, and testing software platforms to create databases using Transact SQL or Microsoft SQL.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of professional experience developing windows-based and web-based applications using .Net framework, jQuery, Bootstrap, C# (C Sharp), or SharePoint.
  • One (1) year of professional experience reviewing, evaluating, and testing software platforms to create databases using Transact SQL or Microsoft SQL.
  • One (1) year of professional experience developing or applying crosschecks and auditing procedures to assure accuracy.
  • One (1) year of professional experience creating or migrating large databases using Microsoft Business Intelligence tools, SQL tools, Adobe LiveCycle, HTML, CSS, XML or report writer software.
  • Ability to develop and document processes and procedures for end-users applications.
  • Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgement in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature.
  • Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, clients, and others.
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills to present technical information to others with clarity of precision.
