Position Overview
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated professional to serve as the Business Administrator. This position will supervise a large subordinate staff in dedicated business office roles. In this role you willmanaging a fiscal operation within a multi-million-dollar organization while maintaining strict security protocols. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply.
Essential Functions
- Serves as the Business Administrator.
- Serves as full-line supervisor.
- Administers, implements, and directs accounting functions.
- Administers, implements, and monitors purchasing functions.
- Remains up-to-date and in compliance with applicable standards of Commission on Accreditation,AdministrativeRegulations and Directives, Procedures Manual, Statewide Accounting Management SystemManual and LocalBusiness Procedures Manual.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumeratedabove.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in fiscal operations for a public or business organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience performing full range of fiscal functions within a large organization.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience utilizing automated financial systems.
- Prefers a bachelors' Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Finance, Economics or Accounting.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience conducting fiscal operations for and managing a multi-million-dollar budget for a large organization.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience with contract establishment, contract monitoring, and procurement processes.
- Prefers more than three (3) years of experience with automated financial systems.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in property control and inventory management.
- Prefers at least six (6) months of experience with BidBuy or other procurement software.
- Prefers experience interpreting collective bargaining contracts and supervising union covered employees.
Employment Conditions
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- Requires the ability to be on call.
- Requires the ability to work at various times outside of normal office hours to meet deadlines.
- Requires willingness to work within a correctional center.
- Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
