Position Overview

Under direct supervision, provides physical therapy treatments to individuals served at Kiley Developmental Center; serves as professional therapist; develops a thorough and meaningful physical therapy evaluation and treatment plan for assigned individuals with reference to physical abilities, limitations and strengths; assesses individuals served progress; administers a full range of therapy treatments.

Job Responsibilities

1. Provides physical therapy treatments to individuals served at Kiley Developmental Center.  Serves as professional therapist.  Develops a thorough and meaningful physical therapy evaluation and treatment plan for assigned individuals with reference to physical abilities, limitations, and strengths.

 

2. Serves as a member of the team.

 

3. Evaluates individuals’ disability and performs initial and re-evaluative testing.

 

4. Checks equipment to verify that it is working properly.

 

5. Provides advice to direct care staff assisting in physical therapy programs.

 

6. Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college with a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from a recognized school.  
  2. Requires possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Physical Therapist in Illinois. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of physical therapy and overall objectives of the program.
  • Requires working knowledge of materials and equipment utilized during physical therapy treatment and their proper care and maintenance.
  • Requires working knowledge of muscular, skeletal, and nervous system as well as potential hazards involved in PT treatment.
  • Requires working knowledge of medical terminology, department regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Requires ability to instruct other in PT techniques and practices.
  • Requires physical ability to lift, reach and support individuals served while performing physical therapy.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related conditions of employment.
